Velindre University NHS Trust (VUNHST) is advancing its digital transformation agenda to enhance clinical practice, improve patient outcomes, and prepare for future service delivery at the new Velindre Cancer Centre and beyond. To achieve this, strong clinical digital leadership is pivotal. This commitment includes embedding digital solutions across all care settings, supporting staff to adopt new technologies, and ensuring systems are safe, effective, and aligned with modern healthcare standards.
The Lead Digital Clinical Specialist will provide robust clinical leadership and be responsible for the operational delivery of this transformation. This will be achieved through working within a multi-disciplinary team to lead the implementation and optimisation of clinical digital systems. This includes the successful delivery of the Trust's electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA) solution, which will support the safe, clinical, and cost-effective use of medicines across the organisation and all clinical digital infrastructure required for the new Velindre Cancer Service. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for developing, planning, and delivering training programmes for nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to support the rollout and effective use of the Welsh Nursing Care Record (WNCR) and other clinical digital platforms.
Responsibilities
 * Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the operational delivery of digital transformation across Trust sites.
 * Lead the implementation and optimisation of clinical digital systems, including the ePMA solution and associated digital infrastructure for the Velindre Cancer Service.
 * Develop, plan, and deliver training programmes for nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to support rollout and use of clinical digital platforms (e.g., WNCR).

 * Support the Chief Nursing Information Officer for Digital in pre-implementation and delivery planning, system demonstrations, and promotion of digital benefits, collaborating with the Digital, Data and Technology teams to ensure safe and timely implementation.
 * Contribute to the design of new ways of working related to ePMA and other digital systems to maximise safety and quality.
 * Provide visible leadership and management to the wider Digital Clinical Specialist team.
 * Organise workload autonomously and act on initiative to deliver programme aims.
 * Ensure successful operational delivery of all clinical digital systems in partnership with managers, leaders, and frontline staff.
 * Support the digitalisation of the clinical records project.
 * Line manage the Digital Clinical Specialist Team.
