GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a Post- 16 educational setting in Fenham. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people in developing confidence, independence, and engagement in learning. About the Role: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students aged 16 who may face emotional or behavioural challenges that impact their learning. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide guidance, encouragement, and structured support to help students succeed both academically and personally. Key Responsibilities: Support students with SEMH needs in a Post- 16 learning environment Provide 1: 1 and small group support during lessons and activities Help students manage behaviour and emotions in a positive way Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment Requirements: Experience working with SEMH, behavioural needs, or vulnerable young people Strong communication and relationship- building skills Calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting learners Ability to work effectively as part of a team An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one Working Hours: Monday – Thursday: 08: 30 – 16: 30 Friday: 08: 30 – 15: 00 Why Choose GSL Education?
