Salary: £121,776 - £134,160

Location: Dudley, West Midlands – on site

Employer: Dudley Council

Be the change. Lead the future. Improve lives.

Dudley Council is seeking an exceptional leader to join our senior team as Director of Adult Social Care. This is a high-impact, high-profile role at the heart of our transformation journey — one that will shape the lives of thousands and influence how care is delivered across our borough.

As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will drive strategic and operational change, working closely with Directors and Group Directors to shape modern, person-centred adult social care services that put people first and deliver meaningful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

* Statutory Director of Adult Social Services (DASS) and Caldicott Guardian, championing the highest standards in care and data governance.
* Leading adult social care operations, safeguarding, professional practice, and integrated commissioning with the NHS and partners.
* Driving transformation that prioritises independence, prevention, and early intervention.
* Embedding a strong culture of practice, focused on quality, outcomes, and continuous improvement.
* Working collaboratively across the Council, and closely with Children & Young People, Public Health teams and partners to promote independence, strengthen transitioning to adulthood, reduce health inequalities and improve population health.

Who We Are Looking For

An experienced and visionary leader with a deep understanding of adult social care and the wider health and care system. You bring credibility, compassion, and courage — with the ability to lead transformation, inspire teams, and work collaboratively across complex systems.

Why Dudley?

This is a unique opportunity to influence the future direction of the Council, working at the forefront of innovation and governance.
