Birchwood is located in a community setting in Lees, Oldham.
Birchwood is a CQC Registered Nursing Home offering rehabilitation packages to 16 adults aged 18 to 65 with severe and enduring mental health needs. We aspire to work in true partnership with our residents.
We recognize that cooking and meal planning are integral parts of the rehabilitation pathway; therefore, providing nutritious, balanced, and varied diets with different choices is a priority.
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Cook to join our team, working 37 hours a week, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

Role Responsibilities
* Cook a variety of dishes to meet different dietary needs.
* Involve in supporting individuals with their meal choices and menu planning.
* Jointly responsible for stock ordering, stock control, and managing a food budget.
* Prepare and cook meals, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene.
* Address customer queries or requests.
* Ensure compliance with Food Standards Agency, local Environmental Health regulations, and Turning Point policies on Food Hygiene.
* Support residents in developing cooking skills through individual and group sessions, requiring good interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and engage.
The Ideal Candidate
* Experience in the catering industry.
* Hold NVQ Level 1 and 2 or equivalent qualifications, and Food Hygiene Level 2 or City and Guilds/706/1 & 2.
* Understanding of supporting people with mental health needs.
* Excellent chef skills with technical competence in food preparation and serving.
* Knowledge of allergies legislation and food diversity, including Halal, Kosher, and Vegan diets, considering nutritional needs and user preferences.
