Salary: £34,662 rising to £40,383 per annum + Excellent Benefits including Government Pension

Hours per week: This role is 37 hours per week. However, we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and we are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.

Type of working arrangement: Hybrid Worker - Hybrid working is a form of flexible working where workers spend some of their time working remotely (usually, but not necessarily, from home) and some in the employer's workspace.

If you are not currently a police staff employee and are successful for this post, you will be offered a Fixed Term contract.
Please note that applicants applying for an internal or external secondment should seek support from their current line manager for their temporary release from their substantive role before applying. External secondment requests will need to be supported by the Force Executive. At the end of the secondment the successful applicant(s) would return to their substantive role. However, if in the meantime the releasing department is subject to review, the successful applicant(s) would be included in that review as if still in post.
About the role:
Purpose
To develop information and intelligence, investigate complaints and allegations of misconduct, undertake criminal and misconduct interviews, take statements, and pursue lines of enquiry. To assist in the preparation of case papers. To highlight areas for improvement regarding organisational practices and procedures.
Main Responsibilities
* To undertake investigative work, in respect of criminal allegations, complaints against police, organisational complaints or misconduct enquiries. To make enquiries as necessary to secure and preserve evidence and to identify potential risks to the organisation.
* To obtain clear and concise witness statements, undertake criminal and misconduct interviews, pursue lines of enquiry, develop information and intelligence and obtain/collate all relevant evidence from various sources both within and outside the Police Force.
* To provide investigation/intelligence reports for submission to the Superintendent Professional Standards Department, Determining Officer, Deputy Chief Constable, the Crown Prosecution Service and the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
* To notify the Determining Officer, Chief Inspector and/or Superintendent, Professional Standards Department of concerns about organisational practices and procedures. Including the maintenance of organisational operational security.
