Salary and Working Hours
The starting salary for these full‑time, permanent positions is £30,647 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.
Hybrid working: a minimum of two days in the office each week and the remainder from home. Team members may work out of any of our Woking, Weybridge or Reigate offices.

About the Role
As an Education Health Care Needs Assessment Officer, you will be part of a newly established countywide EHC Needs Assessment team. You will support children and young people with SEND by building strong, respectful relationships with families, schools and partner organisations, and by applying relational and restorative practices to deliver timely and effective support.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage casework for the 20‑week EHC Needs Assessment process, engaging families and education providers to facilitate informed discussions
* Use a person‑centred approach to meet statutory assessment deadlines
* Coordinate input from Education, Health and Care services to ensure each child receives the right support
* Draft EHCPs that are clear, accurate and of high quality
Required Skills and Experience
* A‑level or equivalent attainment with training or experience in SEN, including the Code of Practice and Children and Families Act 2014
* Knowledge of Surrey’s SEND policies, national guidance, legislation and the impact of SEND on vulnerable children and young people
* Familiarity with Surrey’s Local Offer and school provisions or willingness to learn
* Ability to interpret and accurately convey information from complex written reports within draft EHC Plans
* Clear and confident communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal
* Strong relationship‑building skills and experience of working collaboratively with children, young people and families
* Competence in IT tools including MS Office and database management systems
* Passion for improving outcomes for children and young people
Other Requirements
An enhanced DBS (‘Disclosure and Barring Service’) check and the Children’s and Adults’ Barred List checks are required for this role.
