A leading manufacturer in Thame, Oxfordshire, is looking for an experienced Production Operative to join a growing and established team due to company expansion. Candidates must live in or be able to commute to Thame because of the location and shift hours.
The position offers hours from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday to Thursday, and 5 hours on Friday, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a salary of £28,083 per year.
Applicants should have previous experience in production, including product assembly, wiring, testing, machinery operation, and manual handling of boxes. A strong work history, stability, and a desire for a new challenge are essential. The role requires multitasking, working from drawings (once experienced), problem-solving, and identifying root causes to suggest solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work across various areas of component manufacturing, product assembly, wiring, and testing to meet delivery deadlines.
2. Carry out component manufacturing and product assembly according to build instructions, drawings, BOMs, or related documents.
3. Ensure all activities comply with quality and applicable standards.
4. Set up manufacturing equipment (including EHRT, plating lines, power presses) and production areas for optimal efficiency.
5. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment, following safe working practices at all times.
6. Store components and products tidily with proper identification.
7. Accurately record production, product, and other relevant records.
8. Liaise with Team Leaders to keep stock levels updated.
9. Ensure machinery operates efficiently, maximizing material, resource, and time use.
10. Maintain machinery and equipment as per TPM programs.
11. Report any plant or equipment issues to the Production Manager.
12. Participate in team working and continuous improvement initiatives.
13. Suggest improvements to the efficiency and safety of production areas and equipment.
14. Work with the Production Manager to address manufacturing problems and implement solutions.
