Role Overview
The Bikeability Assistant will support the planning and delivery of Bikeability sessions and other cycling education programmes. The role combines teaching assistance, administrative coordination, and marketing support to ensure high‑quality programme delivery and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
* Communicate with partner organisations & arrange and coordinate Bikeability sessions in partnership with external organisations.
* Assist with the instruction and management of cycling training sessions across different skill levels.
* Assess the effectiveness of training sessions and provide constructive feedback to aid continuous improvement.
* Contribute to the design of lesson structures and prepare necessary materials for cycling sessions.
* Help promote cycling initiatives through social media channels and various outreach activities.
* Participate in staff meetings and work with colleagues to ensure the efficient and effective running of all cycling programmes.
Person Specification
* Organisational and time‑management skills – ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate complex schedules and meet deadlines consistently.
* Experience or interest in cycling instruction or physical education – background or demonstrated strong interest in teaching practical skills, particularly within a physical activity or sport context such as cycling proficiency, sports coaching, or physical education.
* Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities – communication skills, both verbal and non‑verbal, enabling effective interaction with participants, colleagues, parents/guardians and community stakeholders.
* Attention to detail in planning, recording, and evaluating sessions – meticulous approach to all administrative and logistical tasks associated with the role.
* Enthusiastic about promoting active travel and community well‑being – genuine passion for the benefits of cycling and physical activity as a means of sustainable travel and improving public health.
