Overview
Senior NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million. The post is a Band 5 Mental Health Nurse within Inverclyde Mental Health Inpatient Services.
Shift Pattern
The shift pattern for this post is a rotational contract covering day, night and shift times.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care programmes using a strengths‑based, recovery‑focused approach that proactively involves patients and their carers/families.
* Work in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals/agencies without direct supervision and in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies.
* Participate in regular Nurse Line Management Supervision and Clinical Supervision.
* Supervise the practice of others, undertake mentorship responsibilities and contribute to the learning and development of the staff team.
* Provide day‑to‑day nursing care in the Willow ward, a 30‑bed mixed‑gender complex care ward for older adults with mental health issues/organic disorders.
* Support the team in providing compassionate, caring behaviours to fulfil the key functions of the inpatient ward/department.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Registered Mental Health Nurse with a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
* Band 5 experience in an inpatient mental health setting is preferred.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
