Wiltshire Councils Adult Care, Advice & Contact Service is seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Social Worker to join our dynamic team. About the Role As an Advanced Social Worker, you will play a key role in providing practice leadership, professional guidance, and supervision to social workers and social care staff across our adult care teams. You will work directly with individuals in highly complex situations, offering expert assessment, planning, and intervention. You will also support the wider service by contributing to quality assurance, developing best practice, and helping shape strategic developments across Adult Social Care. This position sits within our Adult Care Advice & Contact service, which is at the frontline of supporting residents by offering information, advice, safeguarding triage, and coordination with reablement and wider services. You will also contribute to the effective operation of our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). What Youll Be Doing Leading on and promoting safeguarding in line with policy and statutory responsibilities Conducting and overseeing complex assessments, including Best Interests work Managing a small caseload involving complex, high-risk situations Providing professional supervision, support and development for team members Offering specialist advice to team managers and senior leaders Contributing to service improvement, evidence-based practice, and strategic development Working collaboratively with health, voluntary sector, and community partners Chairing meetings and participating in multi-agency panels or decision-making processes About You Were looking for someone who: Is a qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England Has a minimum of three years post-qualification experience in adult social care Possesses expert knowledge of relevant legislation, especially the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 1983 Has experience in supervision, staff development, and complex casework Is confident working independently, exercising strong professional judgement Communicates effectively with individuals, families, professionals, and partners Demonstrates a commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, wellbeing, and person-centred approaches Has excellent organisational, report-writing and ICT skills A Post-Qualifying Award (e.g., Best Interests Assessor, Practice Educator) is desirable but not essential.
