Offer description

The Housing Service is recruiting Income Project Officers to support the delivery of a proactive and customer-focused income management service across Brent. This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing service focused on improving income collection, tenancy sustainment, and resident outcomes. Working closely with the Income Maximisation Manager and wider housing teams, you will support targeted projects and interventions aimed at maximising rental income and improving performance across a range of tenures and portfolios. You will manage complex arrears cases, support early intervention activity, and work collaboratively with residents and internal teams to achieve positive outcomes. The role will involve delivering project-based work linked to rent recovery, welfare support, legal escalation, and tenancy sustainment. You will be expected to maintain accurate records, use housing management systems effectively, and ensure all work is carried out in line with relevant legislation, policies, and pre-action protocol. The role requires someone who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and contribute to service improvements within a fast-paced housing environment.

The information we collect from you will be shared with Cifas who will use it to prevent fraud, other unlawful or dishonest conduct, malpractice, and other seriously improper conduct. Further details of how your information will be used by us and Cifas and your data protection rights, can be found.

We are looking for motivated and solution-focused individuals with experience in income recovery, rent arrears management, or housing management within a social housing environment. You will have strong knowledge of welfare benefits, including Universal Credit, and an understanding of rent arrears recovery, the Pre-Action Protocol, and relevant housing legislation relating to tenancy, income, and housing management. The successful candidates will:

* Have experience managing complex or high-risk arrears cases
* Be confident working with residents to achieve sustainable outcomes
* Have strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Be able to manage competing priorities and work across multiple projects
