Location: High Wycombe
Role: Youth Outreach Worker in a specialist provision for children aged 7-19 who have experienced significant trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
This role emphasizes holistic and restorative practices, fostering empathy and minimizing punitive measures. Manual handling training will be used only when necessary.
A practical trial day will be arranged to assess suitability. Immediate start is preferred, or a January start if you have a notice period.
Your goal is to improve students' lives, ensure their safety, and demonstrate the value of education. You will receive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA.
Students aged 11-16 with EHCPs, including Autism, OCD, social anxiety, and verbal/non-verbal communication challenges.
The role involves physical work, pragmatic approaches, and supporting academic progress within each child's capacity.
You will encounter some anti-social behavior, which is part of supporting vulnerable children. All training and support are provided by the school.
The role includes introducing therapies and holistic processes, with progress considered a success.
Students may have conditions like Pathological Demand Avoidance and Pervasive Developmental Disorder.
Focus on engaging students positively, providing acceptance, and employing various approaches beyond talking therapy.
Encourage independence and set objectives, especially for students in assisted living.
This role is ideal for graduates in Criminology and Psychology interested in youth justice or outreach work.
