Job Title: Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) - Chester
This exciting opportunity is based in Chester to join our developing Children and Young People’s (CYP) Emergency and Urgent Care provision. As part of the NHS 5 Year Forward View, CWP has developed crisis response services for Children and Young People (CYP).
We are recruiting enthusiastic and motivated clinicians to join the CYP Urgent Support Team. These team members will be part of a skilled, multidisciplinary team, with opportunities for skill development through induction, internal training, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and supervision.
The service operates 24/7 to provide crisis mental health assessments and brief interventions for CYP across various settings, in line with NHS England's guidance on Urgent and Emergency Mental Health Care for CYP.
Relevant clinical experience in risk assessment and management within mental health or social care is desirable but not essential, as ongoing support and development will be provided. Professional registration with HCPC, Social Work England, or NMC is required.
Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive mental health risk assessments, planning crisis interventions, safeguarding young people, and working collaboratively to promote safety. The role involves face-to-face work and liaising with external agencies to ensure effective care pathways.
The positions cover the Cheshire and Wirral Partnership footprint; therefore, access to transportation is essential. The role is based at Chester.
Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) provides a range of health and care services to over one million people, including mental health, learning disability, and physical health services, across multiple sites in Wirral, Cheshire, Trafford, Warrington, Bolton, Halton, and Liverpool. We employ approximately 4,500 staff and are rated Outstanding for Caring by the CQC.
As a Disability Confident Employer, Rainbow Badge Scheme member, Veteran Aware organization, and holder of the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award, CWP values inclusivity and encourages applications from individuals with lived experience of our services.
We offer up to three weeks of induction through our 'Prepare to Care' program to help new starters integrate smoothly.
Whether starting your career or seeking to apply your skills in a new role, CWP offers a supportive environment for professional growth.
