The position of Production Toolmaker/Programmer Engineer is a specialist role responsible for setting up, running, and controlling processes, as well as assisting employees in resolving process problems under the instruction of the Cell Leader. The role aims to meet cell targets related to cost, quality, and timeliness.
Key responsibilities include creating and modifying CNC programs offline, designing work holding, and specifying and ordering tooling. If you are an experienced Toolmaker/Programmer ready to advance your career, we want to hear from you.
Main Duties
1. Set up, operate, and control processes following instructions from the Leader.
2. Gather all necessary materials, equipment, tooling, and documentation for process setup.
3. Configure the process according to relevant instructions such as Route Card, P.S.P.I., I.S.P.I., and Working Practice.
4. Consult with the Team Leader if the process cannot meet the instructions.
5. Perform checks and record results on the appropriate documentation.
6. Run the process or instruct employees to do so.
7. Modify programs offline for changes like material size and tooling adjustments.
8. Write new offline programs for established product styles.
9. Identify tooling requirements and design tooling in collaboration with manufacturing and design engineers.
10. Order external tooling as needed.
11. Manage materials and products under the control of the designated Setter for all shifts.
12. Maintain accurate records using the appropriate systems.
13. Report issues promptly using the company's time reporting system.
14. Communicate with the Team Leader regarding process issues and overall cell performance.
15. Coordinate with other employees and leaders regarding process capability problems as instructed.
16. Perform related duties as required.
Skills & Experience
* Apprentice-trained, time-served Toolmaker/Programmer.
* Good computer literacy.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Extensive CNC programming experience, with additional machine-specific training provided if necessary.
* Experience in selecting appropriate speeds and feeds.
* Knowledge of holder, tip, and cutter selection.
* Understanding of work holding design and requirements.
* Experience in program optimization.
* Comprehensive understanding of machinery, equipment, gauging, and processes in the cell.
