SouthWestSensor Ltd. ('SWS') is an exciting Southampton-based high-tech company backed by a global water technology platform provider (Skion Water). SWS is commercialising advanced chemical sensor products for pollutant monitoring applications in the water industry, including for environmental applications. We are looking for a Field Engineer to join us, ideally with some experience in technical or engineering tasks in industry. We will provide you with a dynamic, fast-growth environment with rapid career progression if successful.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Technical Director or Management Director, the Field Engineer is expected to:
* Support all customers in the field with technical know-how and hands-on practical help
* Day-to-day duties include:
On-site sensor installations
On-site sensor maintenance
On-site sensor repairs
On-site sensor decommissioning & returns
Support sensor trials
Prepare risk assessments and get required permissions for all site visits
Comply with, maintain, and update the Quality Management System.
Liaison with the Technical Team to address customer queries & technical hotline.
* Ongoing liaison with mechanical, electronics/software, and chemistry teams for the timely provision of sensor devices, accessories, and consumables as required for all site visits and deployments
* Provide regular updates internally as well as externally to customers
Requirements
The Field Engineer will be technical, hands on and with interpersonal skills to efficiently engage with customers.
Must-haves:
* Equivalent experience and/or qualification in engineering or technical discipline. Willing to consider applications from a variety of educational backgrounds: degree, apprentice, BTEC, HNC/HND
* Strong practical skills with experience in technical and engineering tasks, for example: assembly of mechanical systems, assembly or test of sensors, calibration, workshop tasks and related manufacturing
* Highly organized with attention to detail
* Self-motivated and able to work without daily supervision
* Ability to quickly learn and apply new skills & processes
* Good communication to efficiently engage with customers
* Driver's license and willingness for considerable travel to customer sites
* Experience working within safety management systems
Desirable:
* Industry experience
* Familiarity with working under quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9000/14001)
* Experience working with sensors, high-tech products or in the water space
* CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
Remuneration:
The Company will pay a highly competitive salary in line with the candidate's relevant experience. A company pension is also in place.
Holidays:
The standard full-time holiday allowance is 23 days annual leave plus public holidays.
Hours of work:
The role is expected to be full-time, but we are flexible accommodating suitably talented individuals and would also entertain part-time employment. The company will consider flexible working patterns within the operational requirements of the role.
