Energy Engineer – Energy Consulting Team
Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Energy Engineer to join our growing Energy team in the Edinburgh office at Bread Street near Edinburgh Castle, with hybrid working.
What sort of projects will I work on?
* Spatial analytics using innovative techniques in mapping and big data, including spatial energy planning and/or Local Area Energy Planning.
* Low‑carbon district energy feasibility studies and design, re‑configuring the way we generate, distribute and use energy across heat pumps and beyond.
* Campus and major site master‑planning studies; modelling, designing and helping our clients transition their estates to net‑zero carbon.
* Building retrofit; trading off the potential to cost‑effectively reuse our existing building versus new build.
* Town and city‑wide heat network assessments and studies directly influencing heat network policy in the UK.
* Projects throughout the lifecycle from research to concept to design to detailed design and implementation, optimising and decarbonising legacy systems.
What will I do?
* Contribute to live projects from the start and have responsibilities and deadlines; advise clients, other engineers, architects and urban planners on holistic solutions.
* Work on district energy and master‑plan development including Energy Centre design, load calculations, conventional and renewable technologies and energy policy.
* Attend client meetings and work alongside experienced engineering colleagues.
* Manage workload and develop design concepts through testing, reporting and presentations.
* Engage in Energy team activities, gaining ownership and contributing to our online presence and technical development.
