Role: Lecturer – Plumbing / BSE

Location: Tresham College – Corby Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary up to £36,878 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37hrs per week

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

We are currently seeking Lecturer in Plumbing / BSE to join our Construction and Building Services department at The Bedford College group.

As a lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:


* Preparing, delivering and assessing subject specialisms on a range of courses, specifically focussing on BSE
* Undertaking course administration as necessary.
* Leading and contributing to curriculum developments within the Programme Area/Centre.
* Carrying out course leadership duties where appropriate.
* Teaching across a range of qualification types and levels with a particular focus on BSE
* Participating in Construction curriculum development activities, particularly BSE
* Providing 1:1 Support/mentoring for students as part of a tutorial process.
* Maintaining current industry knowledge and contributing to innovative teaching meeting industry recognised standards.
* Developing and actively maintaining schemes of work for subjects taught.
* Planning and preparing lessons.
* Researching and developing new topics and identifying and creating teaching materials (including on line resources).
* Undertaking internal verification/moderation activities if and as required.
* Monitoring, tracking, assessing, setting and marking students’ work, assignments, homework, etc.
* Where appropriate, arranging work experience and carrying out student assessments in the workplace.
* Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns in line with College procedures.
* Being responsible for promoting equality and diversity in line with College procedures.
* Being responsible for following health and safety requirements in line with College policy and procedures.
* Participating proactively in training and development including qualification development required in the job role.

About You

* Have trade Advanced Craft / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
* Willing to achieve Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent if not already held.
* Have successful experience as a teacher in an FE environment, particularly BSE up to and including level 3
* Have evidence of high performance in previous roles/jobs
* Possess the ability consistently to support a high-quality learning experience for all students
* Possess the ability consistently to create a welcoming and supportive environment for students and/or customers
* Possess the ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children, young people and vulnerable adults
* Willing to continuously update skills and knowledge
