Overview

Are you a skilled and compassionate RVN, ideally with a love for anaesthesia and theatre work? Pennard Vets, an independent and employee-owned practice, is looking for an experienced Veterinary Nurse to join our progressive and caring team.

About Pennard

At Pennard Vets, every member of our team is an employee owner of the practice, committed to ensuring our service goes beyond the ordinary. We’re creating an environment that looks after the people that look after the pets. We’re 125 years old, and by operating in this way, we’ll continue to grow for the next 125 years, and beyond.

The Role

You will be a vital part of our hospital’s surgical and anaesthesia services. You’ll work alongside our multidisciplinary team to ensure outstanding patient care, with a focus on surgical support, anaesthetic monitoring, and patient preparation and recovery. An interest in neurology is of benefit.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver high-quality anaesthetic care for a variety of complex surgical procedures
* Operate within a referral-level environment, working across departments to support hospitalised patients
* Maintain a clean, sterile, and well-prepared theatre
* Provide peri-operative nursing care including prep, monitoring, and recovery
* Maintain accurate patient records and collaborate with the wider clinical team
* Support and mentor junior team members

About You

* Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
* Ideally confident and interested in anaesthesia, with experience (or a strong interest) in using ventilators and CRIs and infusion pumps
* Adaptable to working across different departments, providing cohesive care at referral level
* Comfortable with later shift patterns and varied duties within a rota system
* Enthusiastic, organised, and a strong communicator
* Anaesthesia Certificate (or working towards) is desirable but not essential

Hours & Rota

Hours: 40 per week

Salary: In region of £32,000, negotiable dependent on experience

Rota includes

* 1 in 6 Saturday mornings (8:30am–12:30pm)
* 1 in 12 weekends on call
* Some bank holiday day shifts or on-call responsibilities
* Working within a rota of duties including later shift patterns and out-of-hours support

What We Offer

* A competitive salary and CPD package
* State-of-the-art, purpose-built hospital facilities
* A supportive, values-driven culture within an employee-owned practice
* The chance to work alongside an experienced, multidisciplinary team
* Opportunities for personal development and career growth
