Our well established freight forwarding client is looking for an Import Operations Clerk to join their Basildon office. The role aims to support Import Ocean Freight, Customs clearance and haulage operations. Working with the Operations manager and dealing with all areas of the business this role gives great general exposure to the day to day running of a freight forwarding business. Key tasks: · Support the operations team in London Gateway with the receipt and processing of import shipments · Receiving and distributing critical documentation from clients and partners · Working in the operations system: o Booking import shipments on o Arranging releases / deliveries o Monitoring expected arrivals and updating partners and clients with changes in schedules o Liaising with different operational teams o Generating performance and tracking reports o Preparing import customs paperwork o Process purchase / sales invoices · Administrative duties such as answering the phone and general office ad hoc duties · Helping deliver excellent customer service to clients Desirable skills: · Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Strong attention to detail · Able to manage workload and prioritise tasks in order to meet deadlines · Hardworking individual who is able to work on own initiative but also under instruction · Have a professional manner and able to work well with others The ideal candidate must have a minimum on 2 years experience
