Sales Development Representative — Construction SaaS
Junior–Mid Level | UK-Based | Full-Time
Location: UK-based (right to work in the UK required — sponsorship not available)
Experience: Minimum 2 years in an SDR, BDR, or outbound sales role
Reports To: Head of Sales / Senior Account Executive
Works Alongside: Account Executive — Construction SaaS
About the Role
We’re hiring an SDR to work directly alongside our Account Executive team, building qualified pipeline in the UK construction and built environment sector. This is a high-activity, high-impact role at the front end of our sales motion — you’ll be the first voice prospects hear, and the quality of your outreach will directly shape the conversations our AEs walk into.
You’ll be expected to generate pipeline through structured outbound campaigns — a combination of personalised email sequences and direct phone outreach. This isn’t a spray-and-pray role. The construction industry is relationship-driven and domain-aware; generic messaging won’t cut through. You’ll need to research your targets, understand their world, and reach out with genuine relevance.
What You’ll Do
• Execute outbound prospecting campaigns targeting general contractors, main contractors, project managers, and planning leads across the UK
• Conduct high-volume, high-quality outbound calling — you’ll be comfortable picking up the phone and holding a credible conversation from the first dial
• Write and deliver personalised outbound email sequences that speak to construction-specific pain points, not generic SaaS messaging
• Research target accounts and contacts to tailor outreach — understanding the project, the company, and the person before you reach out
• Qualify inbound leads and convert them into booked meetings for the AE team
• Hand off well-qualified, well-briefed opportunities to Account Executives with full context
• Maintain accurate activity records, pipeline data, and contact notes in CRM at all times
• Consistently hit or exceed monthly meetings booked and pipeline generated targets
• Work closely with the AE team to align messaging, refine ICP targeting, and feed back market intelligence
Essential Requirements
Outbound Prospecting (Priority #1)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an SDR, BDR, or outbound business development role
• Proven track record of outbound email prospecting — you know how to write sequences that get replies, not unsubscribes
• Strong telephone manner: confident, clear, and consultative on cold and warm outbound calls — not scripted or robotic
• Experience hitting and reporting against KPIs such as dials, connect rates, emails sent, and meetings booked
Communication & Language
• Excellent written and spoken English — essential for this role given the nature of outbound communication
• Able to adapt tone and messaging for different personas: from site-level planners to board-level decision-makers
• Strong listening skills — qualifying is as important as pitching
Tools & Process
• Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or PipeDrive — accurate logging is non-negotiable
• Familiarity with sales engagement tools (e.g. Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo, or similar) is a strong advantage
• Comfortable using LinkedIn Sales Navigator or equivalent for account and contact research
Domain Awareness
• Some exposure to or genuine interest in the construction, built environment, or infrastructure sector
• Ability to hold an informed conversation about project planning, schedules, and site operations — you don’t need to be a surveyor, but you must be curious enough to learn
Nice to Have
• Previous experience in a ConTech, PropTech, or construction-adjacent SaaS business
• Familiarity with platforms like Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Aphex, or similar
• Understanding of how general contractors and supply chains are structured in the UK market
• Experience selling or prospecting into tier-1 contractors, housing developers, or infrastructure programmes
• Background or education in construction, civil engineering, or project management
Right to Work
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. We are not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
What We Offer
• Competitive base salary with uncapped commission tied to meetings booked and pipeline influenced
• A clear development path — we promote SDRs who perform, with a structured route to AE
• Hands-on coaching and a close working relationship with the AE team from day one
• Hybrid/flexible working — we care about output, not hours at a desk
• A product that solves genuine problems in one of the most underdigitised industries in the world
