Overview
This is a 12-month contract for a Finance Director role based in Burnley. The business is a manufacturing group with a modern facility, employing over 100 staff and exporting to multiple regions. The FD will lead financial operations and act as a key adviser to the MD/owner to support growth planning and risk management.
Responsibilities
* Lead a small finance team (2 direct reports) and oversee day-to-day financial controls, cashflow management, statutory reporting, banking relationships and compliance.
* Translate financial data into clear insight to support decision-making, growth planning and risk management.
* Shape systems, processes and strategy to ensure the business remains financially robust and ready for expansion.
* Provide hands-on support where needed, including tasks from processing invoices to preparing board-level reports.
* Support the business through a potential sale process and beyond, contributing to the organisation’s next stage of growth.
* Ensure timely and accurate financial information for stakeholders and advisers.
Qualifications
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience operating at Finance Director level.
* Strong background in manufacturing finance, including product costing, margin analysis and operational support.
* Comfortable in a hands-on environment, capable of handling tasks at all levels.
* Resilient and adaptable, balancing day-to-day control with strategic input.
* Available immediately or within 1 month.
* Onsite full-time role based in Lancashire/Greater Manchester area with reasonable working hours for work-life balance.
Package
Comprehensive package up to £110,000 (negotiable) plus bonus, car, 15% pension and additional benefits.
