Role Overview
Your main focus will be developing and progressing the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform related to the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). This is an exciting role that will make a real difference!
The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a key role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and driving the project to successful completion. Your expertise will significantly contribute to the effective implementation of these reforms.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and collate input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements of the regime.
* Provide technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
* Advise the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service, ensuring it meets business needs.
* Offer technical insights into Defra policy discussions to ensure the Hazardous Waste Regime's regulatory requirements are incorporated into the Waste Tracking Service.
* Engage with devolved nations on Waste Tracking Service requirements.
Additional duties include:
* Providing leadership on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, advising on technical aspects and links to waste tracking.
* Supporting wider regulatory reforms related to Hazardous Waste Regulations.
* Contributing to the wider Hazardous Waste team and supporting its objectives.
The Team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing group within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead hazardous waste management efforts, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste management practices.
