Reporting to the Production Manager, the Shift Manager is responsible for the effective running of the production department to ensure that the plant meets all company and legislative obligations. The role involves supervising the plant production function and driving objectives in line with plant KPIs.
* Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment, enforcing safety rules, correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating safety meetings, performing inspections, and investigating accidents.
* Drive improvements for safer and ergonomic working conditions.
* Perform duties without posing threats to anyone or property.
* Maintain environmental protection, energy optimization, and waste management, including waste segregation, inspections, and incident investigations.
QUALITY
* Maintain process quality according to Ardagh Operations' standards.
* Implement and adhere to Hygiene and HACCP systems.
* Investigate root causes of internal and customer-related non-conformances.
PERFORMANCE (Output, Efficiency, Spoilage)
* Ensure actions are taken to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets, including setting targets, tracking achievements, and adjusting resources.
* Promote continuous improvement initiatives like 6S, SMED, 8D, 6 Sigma, Lean.
* Handover information and a safe, clean environment to the next shift.
* Maintain effective communication within the team and with management.
* Evaluate performance using computer systems.
HR/Employee Relations
* Set clear expectations for team members and act as a role model.
* Ensure standards and procedures are followed and address deviations.
* Foster a trust-based employee relations climate.
* Manage non-performers and review performance and development plans.
* Manage staffing levels, onboarding, and training needs.
* Coordinate with HR on reviews and succession planning.
* Coach team members on performance standards.
Qualifications include HNC/HND or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, fluency in English, and proficiency in MS Office, SAP, and other systems.
The role involves managing a team in a high-speed manufacturing environment, driving performance, and leading with integrity. Flexibility, self-motivation, and initiative are essential.
