1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Epping
Location: Epping, Essex
Position: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)
Do you have a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs? A nurturing and inclusive primary school in Epping is seeking a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support for a pupil requiring additional help to succeed in the classroom.
About the Role:
This role involves working one-to-one with a child who may have autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. You’ll play a key part in helping them engage with learning, develop confidence, and feel safe and supported in school.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 in-class and out-of-class support tailored to the pupil’s needs
2. Help implement strategies from the SENCO and external professionals
3. Support learning, behaviour, and emotional development
4. Contribute to planning, record-keeping, and progress monitoring
5. Foster a calm, caring, and consistent environment
What We’re Looking For:
6. Experience working with children with SEN (in education or care settings)
7. A calm, patient, and adaptable nature
8. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
9. Confidence in using behaviour management and learning strategies
10. A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) – desirable but not essential
