Offer description

Bryanston is seeking a dynamic, vibrant and highly creative Head of Prep Music. The postholder will be responsible for providing an inspirational and modern programme of both curriculum and performance music for Bryanston Prep. We want every pupil at Bryanston Prep to love and breathe music in every shape and form.

This post provides an exciting opportunity for a talented, passionate and energetic character to become fully committed to the busy life of Bryanston Prep’s Music department. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues and pupils to embed music in the heart of school life. While their primary place of work will be Bryanston Prep, the postholder will also be expected to contribute and support initiatives across the wider school.

Bryanston is a leading co-educational full-boarding school set in a beautiful 400-acre campus, surrounded by Dorset countryside, and provides an outstanding education for pupils aged 3-18. We pride ourselves on being a happy, creative, and forward-thinking place to learn.

We welcome applications from teachers from both the independent and state sectors. The person appointed will also have the opportunity to contribute to the pastoral, boarding and co-curricular life of the School.

Bryanston School offers an exceptional working environment, which includes a competitive salary, state of the art facilities and wide-ranging prospects for development.

Closing date for applications: 27th May 2026

Interview date: 2nd June 2026

The welfare of Bryanston pupils is of paramount importance. Bryanston is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers share this commitment. Bryanston is committed to celebrating diversity and a culture of open-mindedness and inclusion. We stand against everything to do with discrimination and promote fundamental British values.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School will conduct an online search of any applicant invited for interview. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
