Overview
To provide professional advice and support to the Local Health Board in relation to NHS Primary Dental Care matters. To provide clinical leadership, advice and support to general dental practitioners. Work closely with the Associate Medical Director Dental, Heads of Primary Care and Cluster Leads to promote the development of oral health services and enhance connectivity and integration between Primary Care contractor services. The Primary Care Dental Practice Advisor provides internal/professional advice and support to the Local Health Board in relation to NHS Primary Dental Care matters as well as supporting with strategic development. The role involves interfacing with general dental practices, the Health Boards Primary Care Team, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, Public Health Wales Dental Public Health team, Welsh Government and Health Education and Improvement Wales. The role also involves providing clinical leadership and advice to the Primary Care Team to ensure that Primary Care Dental Services are delivered to a high quality with mechanisms for continuous improvement. The successful candidate will work interfacing with General Dental Practices and will offer support and guidance to dental professionals including clinical advice, audit and quality improvement.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and bordering counties. * Four main hospitals: Bronglais General, Glangwili General, Prince Philip, Withybush General
* Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley, Llandovery, Tregaron, Aberaeron, Cardigan, Tenby, South Pembrokeshire H&SC Centre
* 48 general practices (four managed), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 EHEW and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary providers and 11 health centres
* Locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services
* Specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee
Responsibilities
* Provide professional advice and support to NHS Primary Dental Care matters for the Local Health Board.
* Provide clinical leadership, advice and support to general dental practitioners.
* Promote development of oral health services and integration between Primary Care contractor services.
* Advise and support the Primary Care Team to ensure high-quality delivery of Primary Care Dental Services with continuous improvement mechanisms.
* Interface with General Dental Practices and support dental professionals including clinical advice, audit and quality improvement.
* Collaborate with the Health Board’s Primary Care Team, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, Public Health Wales Dental Public Health team, Welsh Government and Health Education and Improvement Wales.
