The Finance Director is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for leading Finance, Business Systems, Compliance, Production and Dispatch across the organisation. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role will play a critical part in shaping and delivering the company’s strategy, ensuring strong financial stewardship, scalable systems and operational excellence within a modern, fast-paced e-commerce business with manufacturing at its core. This is a broad, hands-on leadership role requiring a balance of strategic thinking, commercial insight and operational understanding. The Finance Director will champion transparency, ethical decision-making and long-term value creation, aligned with their B-Corp commitments.
About the Role
The Finance Director will lead a multi-disciplinary leadership team, with three direct reports, covering finance, systems, compliance, production and dispatch.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
* Contribute to and execute the company’s overall strategy as a member of the Senior Management Team
* Act as a trusted partner to the CEO and Board, providing insight, challenge and considered recommendations
* Full responsibility for the integrity of financial controls, governance and reporting
* Oversee timely production of monthly management accounts, forecasts, board packs and statutory reporting
* Lead year-end processes and liaison with external auditors
* Proactively identify risks, opportunities and performance trends
* Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to ensure all buts are being realised
* Manage cashflow forecasting, working capital optimisation and funding requirements
Operations, Manufacturing & Stock
* Partner closely with production and operational teams to drive efficiency and performance
* Oversee stock management across raw materials, bulk and finished goods, balancing availability and working capital
* Lead product costing, margin analysis and supplier cost management
Systems, Process & Compliance
* Hold ultimate accountability for business systems, ensuring they are scalable, integrated and fit for growth
* Oversee ERP, finance and reporting systems (Business Central Dynamic 365)
* Ensure robust compliance frameworks covering finance, operations, governance, data and B-Corp standards
* Lead process mapping, documentation and continuous improvement across the organisation
Ad-hoc & Strategic Projects
* Lead and support cross-functional initiatives aligned to growth, systems improvement and operational excellence
* Provide financial leadership on strategic investments, new initiatives and change programmes
Qualifications
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
* Senior finance leadership experience, ideally within manufacturing, FMCG or production-led environments
* Experience working in a fast-paced, commercial, e-commerce or omnichannel business
* Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, stock, costing and margin drivers
* Proven experience leading teams and influencing at Board and SMT level
Required Skills
* Highly commercially astute with strong analytical and financial reporting capability
* Confident operating across finance, operations and systems
* Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
* Experience with ERP and finance systems (Dynamics, Business central, Power-BI)
