Applications are invited for a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery with a subspecialty interest in the management of foot and ankle trauma. This role offers the opportunity to develop an elective foot and ankle practice, including ankle arthroplasty.
The on-call responsibilities include participation in polytrauma cover during week 1 in 16 and a 1 in 12 weekend rota. The role involves performing orthopaedic trauma surgery with a subspecialty focus on foot and ankle trauma, managing fracture clinics (including virtual clinics), ward rounds, trauma and elective operating, and other departmental duties.
Elective surgeries are undertaken at the SOTC, a GIRFT-accredited HVLC Hub. The appointee is expected to be committed to improving clinical care quality and to participate in incident reporting, risk management, and Clinical Unit Governance Meetings held bi-monthly.
Additional responsibilities include:
1. Undertaking administrative duties related to patient care.
2. Supporting all clinical team members in theatres, clinics, and wards.
3. Managing patients daily, liaising with trauma nurse practitioners, and participating in meetings.
4. Staying up-to-date with mandatory training.
5. Adhering to rules, policies, statutory, and professional obligations.
6. Maintaining confidentiality of patient and staff information.
On-call commitment involves trauma cover at RSCH MTC site during weekdays and off-site cover when on call, as well as PRH NOF weekend on-call rota (3% Category A).
