Oaks Park High School
Learning support assistant
Posted: 24 August
Offer description

This is a non-teaching post which will give the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to work closely with young people supporting them in their school life, helping them to access a varied and exciting curriculum.

As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) you will be part of a team working under the direction of the SENCo, or allocated for day to day management to the Leaders of Mathematics, English, Science or other departments.

As well as the mainstream part of our school, Oaks Park High School is home to Horizon - the largest autism base in the country. This is a specialist provision, offering small teaching classes, that provides a bespoke curriculum for students with autism. Applications from those with experience in this area, or an interest to gain more experience in this area, are very welcome - please note this on your application form.

You will be expected to work effectively with both teaching and support staff at all levels as well as with parents/carers, students and external agencies.

Salary: CAN scale 14-17 (£25,986 - £26,482 per annum, full time equivalent. Term time only, 33 hours actual salary - £19,962 - £20,343 per annum)

Days: 190 days (188 term time days plus 2 staff prep days at the beginning of the academic year)

Working hours: 33 per week between 8.00am and 3.50pm, across 5 days.

Our school:

Thank you for your interest in this role. This is an exciting time to be joining Oaks Park High School.

We were proud to achieve a 'Good' outcome in all categories during an Ofsted Inspection in October 2023 in which Ofsted commented the following

'The school is ambitious for all pupils, including those with SEND. It has designed a curriculum that sets out high academic expectations'

'Teachers have strong subject knowledge. This is reflected in their high-quality explanations of subject content'

'Pupils are respectful and polite. They understand the school's expectations in terms of conduct and behaviour'

'Staff know their pupils well, and they build positive relationships with them'

The school is an increasingly popular choice within the local community and we are delighted to advertise this role due to an expansion within the school and a larger intake of students in September 2024.
