Context
Craigroyston Community High School is a non-denominational secondary community school serving a catchment area in the northwest of Edinburgh. The school serves three associated primary schools: Craigroyston, Forthview and Pirniehall. The current school roll is approximately 750. The locality is undergoing regeneration with 750 new homes being built.
The catchment area includes a designated area of high deprivation. Free Meal Entitlement is 40% and around a quarter of pupils have additional support for learning requirements. Approximately 10% of pupils are Looked After Children (LAC). The school is committed to nurturing and inclusive measures, including a zero-exclusion approach, and benefits from strong partnerships.
The curriculum aims to provide a portfolio of skills, experiences, qualifications and knowledge of the job market to ensure pupils enter a sustained positive destination. The Senior Phase is linked to employment with vocational courses and college links, while traditional subject provision remains available to meet individual needs and ambitions. The School Improvement Plan aligns with local, City of Edinburgh Council and national priorities.
Selection and Checks
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An overseas criminal record check is required for individuals who have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years. An unconditional offer of employment will be subject to the satisfactory outcome of both pre-employment checks.
Equality, Diversity and Culture
We are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.
As part of our goal to improve organisational culture and create a great place to work, we seek the best people in terms of skills, experience and approach to work. We are changing interview methods from a competency-based approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach.
Our Behaviours include Respect, Integrity and Flexibility. The organisation emphasises how these behaviours are applied in daily work and decision making, to support a positive workplace culture.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annual increases up to the top of the range. We are happy to discuss flexible working.
