Our Events Manager role:
A leadership role responsible for delivering our programming and events strategy, you'll bring together cultural and active experiences, balance community engagement with commercial performance, grow revenue through events and sponsorship, and champion local partners to elevate our guest experience.
You'll also be fundamental in crafting, coordinating and executing a wide range of hotel and external 'in the bay' hotel events, harnessing our food and drink, culture, active, and wellbeing pillars, and act as a key point of contact for day-to-day enquiries, liaising with guests to ensure their requirements and expectations are understood and met.
If you excel in organizational, negotiating, and multitasking skills, and can transform complex projects into clear, manageable, and concise tasks (both written and verbally), our Events Manager role offers you the opportunity to deliver once-in-a-lifetime experiences in alignment with our exciting sustainability initiatives.
This role is offered on a full-time basis, working Monday to Friday, and will be based in our Senior Operations Office at the hotel.
What you'll be responsible for:
Supporting our Head of Brand Delivery in developing and delivering events, including new event concepts.
Liaising with external suppliers to ensure seamless execution of events and functions.
Managing event budgets and working towards agreed income targets.
Building strong relationships with event organisers to deliver their vision.
Coordinating suppliers for ordering, delivery, set-up and payment of equipment.
Preparing clear event briefs and communicating roles and responsibilities effectively.
Collaborating with our Executive Head Chef and Food & Beverage Manager on seasonal menus and booking parameters.
Ensuring accurate event documentation, smooth booking systems, and compliance with Health & Safety guidelines.
Developing local partnerships to generate event opportunities and representing events at key meetings.
Supporting B Corp accreditation and embedding sustainability initiatives within events.
You'll also:
Ensure deposits and payments are taken as agreed by contract T&C's to minimise financial risk to the business.
Guarantee budget cost lines are adhered to at each stage of the event planning journey.
Keep departments are up to date with events processes (adhering to relevant company policies and procedures).
Provide and update event risk assessments and safety planning documents, communicating these as needed.
What you'll be sharing with us:
Experience in event coordination or management
A positive, can-do approach with guests, attendees, and team
A calm and diplomatic nature whilst under pressure
Proficiency with hotel management systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Customer service experience, particularly with corporate clients
Strong administrative and organisational skills, including diary and inbox management, reporting, and document preparation
Effective problem-solving, multitasking, and prioritisation with attention to detail
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Social media and marketing awareness (preferred)
Proven track record of delivering successful events (preferred)
