Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join Westmorland and Furness Council as an Environmental Health Officer within our Public Protection Service, focusing on Food Safety, Health and Safety, Port Health and Public Health Registrations. In this role you will help us keep our communities safe through undertaking a wide range of regulatory activities including health protection, infection control, health and safety at work, food safety and integrity and port health. You will be joining a dedicated and experienced team where you will be managing your own caseload of primarily Food Safety and Health and Safety work including proactive and reactive inspections, complaint investigations and service requests. Responsibilities
* Manage your own caseload of primarily Food Safety and Health and Safety work, including proactive and reactive inspections, complaint investigations and service requests.
* Undertake a wide range of regulatory activities including health protection, infection control, health and safety at work, food safety and integrity and port health.
* Collaborate within the Public Protection Service to support community safety and service delivery.
Qualifications
* Qualified Environmental Health Practitioners who hold a diploma, BSc, or MSc in Environmental Health and are EHRB registered or equivalent.
* Current competence as outlined in the Food Law Code of Practice.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence effectively at all levels.
* Ability to work independently while maintaining a customer-focused approach to service delivery.

As part of this role, there is a requirement for regular travel and so the postholder must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle to use for work/ able to independently travel around the Westmorland and Furness area.
