Your Mission:
As a Lead Principal Engineer within the SSNA Platform Mechanical Integrated Delivery Team (IDT), you will be at the forefront of a complex and fast-paced submarine program. Your leadership will be crucial in delivering engineering excellence across multiple systems. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Lead Engineering Delivery: Ensure quality and timely outputs across design, integration, and qualification.
* Technical Ownership: Oversee several mechanical systems, ensuring compliance and effective collaboration.
* Produce Engineering Artifacts: Create essential documentation, calculations, and perform simulations/analysis.
* Manage Tasks: Utilize structured tools (Jira/Confluence) to track progress and align with program milestones.
* Coach and Support: Mentor engineers at all levels to enhance their technical capabilities and confidence.
* Collaborate: Work closely with peers, suppliers, and stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain momentum.
* Review Documentation: Support hazard assessments and manage change control with sound engineering judgment.
* Proactive Improvement: Identify and address shortfalls in delivery and processes, fostering a culture of openness and accountability.
Your Skills and Experiences:
We’re looking for a confident leader who thrives in a collaborative environment. You should have:
* A proven track record in delivering complex mechanical or multi-disciplinary engineering tasks in a regulated environment.
* Experience in mentoring or coaching engineers to support their growth.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to lead discussions and build strong relationships.
* The capability to collaborate effectively across various functions including engineering, project, safety, and supply chain.
* Familiarity with task and documentation management tools like Jira and Confluence.
* Professional registration (CEng preferred) or working towards it.
* A STEM-related degree (or equivalent experience) with a strong foundation in systems thinking and platform-level integration.

About the Platform Mechanical Team:
Join a dynamic, collaborative engineering group at the forefront of submarine platform development. Our team consists of engineers from various disciplines and career levels, working together to deliver critical mechanical capabilities. You’ll engage closely with suppliers, systems engineers, and program stakeholders, playing a central role in shaping high-integrity technical solutions. We have multiple roles available across disciplines such as Air Purification, Trim & Compensation, Hydraulics, and more. Relocation support packages are available for eligible candidates.
