Criminal Solicitor - Leeds (Local Authority role) Contract role Hourly rate negotiable 37 hours per week Prosecutor required to advise enforcement teams on enforcement options, consider evidence and advise on amendments/requirements to cases, consider cases before issue in line with Prosecutors Code, draft and issue summons. Attend Civic Hall Leeds for face to face meetings with rest of the team once a week. Attend all hearings and trials at Kirklees Magistrates Court (Huddersfield). Attend Crown Court with counsel. Accountabilities : Draft, revise and advise on complex legal documentation concerning legal issues across the Council Attend throughout to the relevant documentation and procedures and all matters arising. Undertaking legal and related research. Giving written and oral advice Drafting and negotiating documents including Court proceedings and other documentation as necessary Conduct investigatory and preparatory work as necessary to ensure effective presentation of cases to Court Undertake advocacy on cases where appropriate Work flexibly as part of a team to cover Court and Tribunal commitments and other work as required. Brief Counsel where appropriate, including preparation for inquiries or other proceedings Attend Court with Counsel as instructing representative if required. Liaise with service clients and other services affected by a matter in hand and co-ordinate, where necessary, any required input from other services. Advise on the best means of legally achieving the client's objectives Maintain personal case load information and case progress data including time recording and job costing in computerised form as instructed Prioritise case load and self- monitor progress of work utilising any case management system in operation subject to an overriding instruction Assist in maintaining the high quality, speed and efficiency in legal service delivery. To deliver and receive such training as is required.
