Job summary:
Our rapidly growing Global Warehousing & Logistics business segment delivers complex, high-value supply chain solutions globally. We seek a dynamic leader for the Director of Strategic Project Management role.
This role is responsible for executing and standardising new contract logistics facility launches and complex client implementations. Reporting to the SVP of Global Warehousing & Logistics, you will lead strategic planning, program management, and operational readiness for Iron Mountain’s expanding contract logistics footprint. Initially focused on major UK implementations, the role has a global scope, supporting geographic market entry strategies and major launches worldwide. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operational excellence and experience in launching operational programs in a contract logistics environment.
Your role in our mission:
* Lead Strategic Projects: Oversee project lifecycle for new logistics sites and client integrations, ensuring timely, on-budget delivery with high standards.
* Develop Methodologies: Create and implement standard project management practices tailored for logistics launches and transformations.
* Manage Stakeholders: Act as the main contact for clients, leadership, regional teams, and vendors, ensuring clear communication.
* Drive Operational Excellence: Collaborate globally to define and embed operational excellence initiatives, including Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement.
* Scale Best Practices: Standardise and expand best practices across the global network.
* Team Leadership: Build and mentor a team of project managers, fostering high performance and capability development.
Valued skills and experience:
* Experience: Progressive logistics, supply chain, or warehousing experience, particularly in strategic project management within contract logistics or 3PL environments.
* Expertise: Proven success in large-scale facility start-ups and client go-lives, including greenfield, brownfield, and integration projects.
* Global Acumen: Experience managing international projects with diverse cultural and regulatory contexts.
* Skills: Strong project and program management skills, familiarity with methodologies (PMP, Prince2, Agile), and operational knowledge of WMS and automation.
* Leadership: Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Travel: Willingness to travel globally as required by project demands.
