Role Overview
You will join an existing team of building surveyors in Glasgow and work on projects in both the public and private sectors. The position is suited to a Building Surveyor with 2‑3 years post‑graduation experience who is working towards APC, ideally with experience in condition survey, PPM and/or pre‑acquisition, and contract administration. A strong understanding of construction technology is required.
Responsibilities
Project Work
* Represent Thomas & Adamson on assignments and liaise between the client, designers and contractor to support successful project conclusion.
* Inspect properties and develop scope, budget, costs and programmes for proposed works.
* Liaise with building occupiers to arrange access and manage logistical matters.
* Develop tender documentation and specifications using NBS.
* Manage and coordinate the tender process, analyse returns and prepare tender reports with contractor appointment recommendations.
* Support Contract Administrator activities; process required project notices and correspondence.
* Monitor on‑site works quality, ensuring contractor compliance with contract terms, drawings and specifications.
* Ensure colleagues meet obligations under their appointments and comply with relevant H&S legislation.
* Act on behalf of Thomas & Adamson professionally, upholding company values.
Survey Work
* Undertake dilapidation, PPM, condition, schedule of condition, pre‑acquisition surveys.
* Provide clear and concise reports and advise clients throughout the process within applicable legal constraints.
* Support development of cost estimates when required in relevant reports.
General Duties
* Represent Thomas & Adamson professionally, maintaining service quality and integrity.
* Report to clients and stakeholders in line with client requirements and company standards.
* Collaborate with team members to understand and meet client deadlines efficiently.
* Liaise regularly with mentors and seek support when challenges arise.
* Engage in professional development and training within the business and externally.
Delivering Great Client Experience
* Build strong professional relationships with clients, consultants and contractors, based on mutual respect, trust and integrity.
* Represent T&A at project meetings with clients, designers and contractors and follow up on actions assigned to T&A at such meetings.
* Communicate clearly, concisely and coherently with the client and other consultants regarding information required for our services.
Qualifications
* Post‑graduate Building Surveyor experience.
* Demonstrated awareness of current health & safety and building regulations legislation.
* Understanding of contract administration and project management processes.
* Experience and awareness of various survey types, including dilapidations, due diligence, schedules of condition and planned maintenance inspections.
* Interest in construction technology and its relationship to building defects.
* Proficiency in CAD with working knowledge of building standards and related processes.
