System Architect - Spacecraft Missions
£650-700 per day

iO Associates is looking for a System Architect for a spacecraft missions, responsible for defining mission architecture and ensuring technical success across the full mission lifecycle. This role leads system-level engineering activities and coordinates multidisciplinary teams covering the space segment, ground segment, launch, and in-orbit operations.
Key responsibilities include:
* Defining and managing system requirements and interfaces in line with ECSS standards,
* Maintaining the technical baseline, managing system budgets and risks, and overseeing verification and validation activities.
* Provides technical leadership across all spacecraft subsystems, ensures effective interface control, and supports design reviews, AIT, launch, and in-orbit operations.
The role works closely with program management, customers, partners, and subcontractors, supporting contract negotiations, anomaly investigations, and future mission proposals.
Required experience:
* 10+ years in the spacecraft industry
* Proven technical leadership, strong system-engineering expertise, knowledge of spacecraft operations and ground systems, and hands-on experience across multiple engineering domains.
* Confidence leading complex, multidisciplinary teams and delivering end-to-end space missions is essential.
