Be responsible for working in both metrology and metallurgical laboratories measuring internal and externally purchased components and supporting the maintenance of measurement systems. Shift Pattern
* Currently working a 3‑shift system:
* Early shifts: Monday 6:30am‑3pm; Tuesday‑Thursday 7am‑3pm; Friday 7am‑12pm.
* Late shifts: Monday‑Thursday 3pm‑11pm; Friday 12pm‑5:30pm.
* Night shifts: Monday‑Thursday 11pm‑7am; Friday 5:30pm‑11pm.
Qualifications and Experience
* Completed Mechanical/Electrical apprenticeship and an HNC/HND equivalent in a relevant subject.
* Good knowledge of measurement principles and processes.
* Background in metrology laboratory measurement preferred.
* Computer literacy – good knowledge of Word, Excel.
* Strong communication skills; ability to read engineering drawings.
* Self‑motivated, adaptable and willing to learn.
* Proven ability to work in a team: self‑motivated, flexible.
* Good understanding of 5S and workplace organisation.
* Experience with CMM, calibration, programming, GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
* External training will be provided to gain further experience, alongside a comprehensive internal training plan.
Key Responsibilities
* Support commissioning of new measurement equipment.
* Measurement of internal and external purchased components using laboratory equipment.
* Support the development of test methods and continuous improvement opportunities.
* Produce measurement reports for components measured.
* Assist with quality investigations providing measuring support.
* Work within a team to ensure tasks are in line with targets.
