Overview
You will have a flexible approach to supporting people to access activities and participate fully in their local community. We also support individuals with more complex support and communication needs, and you may be required to provide support with some personal care tasks including continence and nutrition.
This is an exciting opportunity where you will be provided with access to a vast range of training, the support to learn, develop and gain new skills which will enable you to become part of a professional, creative, and motivated team.
Based primarily at Canterbury Community Day Service at our Northgate Hub you will, at times, provide support at our other hubs and services in the locality and will need to be able to travel across these areas in a timely manner.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
Responsibilities
* Cover staff holidays and sickness as and when needed.
* Assist people to meet their aspirations through a person-centred approach, focusing on outcomes for the individual.
* Promote social inclusion, rights and choices, leading to increased independence and fulfilled lives.
* Support access to activities and encourage participation in the local community.
* Support individuals with more complex support and communication needs; may include some personal care tasks (continence and nutrition).
* Travel across Canterbury hubs and services to provide support in a timely manner.
Qualifications and requirements
* Evidence of the core values required of staff working in our services; complete the Care Certificate and Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care once in service if not already achieved.
* Good communication, computer and organisational skills are essential.
