We are recruiting a KS1 Teacher to join a warm, inclusive, and highly supportive SEN school. As a KS1 Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education to pupils with complex needs, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
About the Role:
1. Provision: Work within an SEN school setting, teaching pupils who have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), moderate learning difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions, physical disabilities and other associated needs.
2. Approach: Deliver a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum that is fully integrated with specialist support services (speech & language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, SEMH support).
3. Collaboration: Work closely with an on-site therapy team, care and support staff, and other teaching professionals to design and implement personalised learning plans.
4. Environment: Teach in small classes, in a nurturing, supportive, and safe residential and day-pupil special school.
5. Development: Contribute to fostering independence in pupils through life skills programmes and therapeutic interventions.
Person Specification:
We are looking for a KS1 Teacher who:
6. Is qualified to teach in the UK (QTS or equivalent) with experience in primary education.
7. Has a strong understanding of and enthusiasm for working in a special school environment.
8. Has experience (or a willingness to develop) in supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs, moderate learning difficulties, and additional SEND.
9. Can adapt planning and teaching to meet very individual needs, ensuring all pupils make aspirational progress.
10. Is committed to working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (therapists, care staff, support staff) to co-create and deliver personalised learning.
11. Demonstrates excellent communication, patience, resilience, and a positive, can-do attitude.
12. Is ambitious for all pupils and believes in promoting dignity, independence and growth for children with SEN.
Why Join Us?
13. You will be part of a well-established SEN special school that has provided specialist education since 1922.
14. You'll benefit from on-site expert therapy teams (speech & language, occupational therapy, physiotherapy), supporting both pupils and teachers.
15. The school provides a high-quality learning environment with excellent specialist resources: therapy rooms, sensory integration facilities, a swimming pool, food-tech, science, DT and IT rooms.
16. There is a strong culture of partnership with parents/carers, valuing open communication and collaboration in supporting each child's development.
17. You will contribute to helping young people develop not just academically but also personally - promoting independence and life skills as central to our ethos.
18. The special school has boarding options, so for some staff, the opportunity to engage in a residential setting may arise.
19. Excellent professional development opportunities in a supportive and caring environment.
Not quite the right role for you? We have a range of positions across SEN and specialist settings - feel free to contact us or pass this opportunity on to someone who may be interested.
