Associate Civil Engineer (Urban Drainage/Wastewater Modelling)
Join WSP in the UK & Ireland to lead an urban drainage and wastewater modelling team. Help deliver solutions to complex urban drainage problems, support a high‑performing team of engineers and hydraulic modellers, and shape WSP’s future approaches to efficient delivery.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership on a range of urban drainage projects, applying standards and recognising when alternative solutions are required.
* Support the team lead in managing project delivery, supervising tasks and reviewing deliverables.
* Develop the team’s urban drainage modelling capability, staying ahead of discipline developments and training junior members.
* Provide technical input on urban drainage projects and support the wastewater team in delivering current and future work.
* Further develop and apply technical skills to enhance both technical quality and service efficiency.
* Exercise independent engineering judgement and offer innovative solutions; be proactive and collaborative.
* Lead people, growing and developing a high‑performing team, providing line management and mentorship.
* Maintain excellent client relationships at all levels, coordinating internal and client project meetings.
* Develop and submit successful proposals to secure work, both through existing frameworks and new client relationships.
* Promote the WSP brand through industry forums and conferences.
* Contribute to wider team learning through knowledge‑sharing exercises.
Qualifications
* A relevant degree and chartered status (or a significant progression on a path to qualification with ICE, IEI, IoW or CIWEM).
* Clear and successful experience of wastewater hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM) with the ability to audit technical outputs before issue.
* A good working knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, the Code of Practice for the Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage Systems and relevant British Standards.
