HLTA – SEMH School – Walsall
A specialist SEMH school in Walsall is seeking a confident and experienced HLTA to support children who have been excluded from mainstream education. This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled HLTA who is passionate about helping young people re-engage with learning, build confidence and develop positive behaviours.
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting both learning and behaviour across the school. You will deliver targeted interventions, provide consistent behavioural support and confidently cover classes in the absence of teachers, ensuring continuity and structure for pupils.
The Role:
- Delivering targeted academic and social interventions
- Providing behavioural and emotional support for students with SEMH needs
- Covering lessons and leading classes in the absence of teachers
- Supporting students on a 1-2-1 and small group basis
- Helping pupils re-engage with education and develop positive routines
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and leadership
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
- Experience working with SEMH students or in alternative provision
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Confidence leading classes and delivering planned work
- A calm, resilient and relationship-focused approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
