We're a lean but highly capable group of professionals, including specialists in business development, programme management, operations, and client services, closely integrated with our engineering and operations teams to deliver innovative solutions to complex defence challenges.
We're seeking a skilled Proposal Writer with a strong background in solicitation based writing (RFPs, RFQs, BAAs) to support our business development and capture efforts. This is a strategic role focused on winning new business through compelling, compliant, and customer-focused proposals, not technical manuals or support documentation.
What you'll be doing
* Analyse solicitations to extract requirements and develop compliance matrices
* Develop proposal structures, win themes, and content plans aligned with customer priorities
* Collaborate with SMEs, engineers, and programme managers to define technical approaches
* Write and edit persuasive proposal content with consistent tone and formatting
* Manage stakeholder inputs and ensure timely delivery of high-quality submissions
* Lead internal reviews and incorporate feedback to improve competitiveness
* Prepare final proposal packages and client presentations
Essential skills and experience
* Proven experience in proposal or technical writing, ideally within defence, maritime, or engineering sectors
* Familiarity with UK Government and MOD procurement processes
* Strong understanding of procurement frameworks and compliance
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and documentation tools
* Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
Desirable
* Experience in marine autonomy, robotics, or defence
* Formal bid writing training or certification
