Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) Supervisor

An exciting position has arisen within our Seisdon Mental Health Support Team. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Education Mental Health Practitioner Supervisor.
You will provide formal and informal education, training, and supervision to other members of the team and other disciplines if identified as a need. The MHSTs will deliver evidence-based interventions, supporting emotional wellbeing primarily in an educational setting. Under your supervision and support staff will be delivering full assessments of care needs, risk assessment and evidence-based interventions.
Our service is available Monday to Friday 9-5pm, although there may be times when workshops or community work are required after school and the post holder must be flexible.
The post holder will maintain managerial responsibility for caseloads and clinical skills and manage a clinical role and/or a caseload dependent upon locality need.
The post holder will be responsible for establishing and maintaining team systems and processes for effective operation of the team including outcome measurements, audit and annual service policy review.
The post holder will also act in support with fellow Team Leaders in providing clinical leadership and advice across the MHST. All staff are required to comply with the Trust's Values.
Job responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide evidence-based CBT-informed supervision to EMHPs.
* Provide formal and informal education, training, and supervision to other members of the team, including schools.
* Work with a defined caseload of service users as part of an MDT, providing assessment, care planning and care delivery for users with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, including psychological interventions, group work, risk assessment/management, and promoting recovery and inclusion.
* Ensure co-production with service users, families, carers, and education staff.
* Provide specialist advice/consultation and guidance to school mental health leads and trainees.
* Liaise with MDT, schools and outside agencies for early intervention implementation.
* Ensure interventions are evidence-based.
* Provide an all-age inclusive service focused on early identification and rapid response that supports effective clinical decision making and education of staff.
* Participate in risk assessment and risk management activities.
* Contribute to development of innovative practice and propose changes to protocols and procedures within the MHST and CAMHS.
* Shape and influence referral pathways and access.
* Provide a flexible service, with occasional evening and weekend work to facilitate parent psycho-education and community activities.
* Perform additional duties necessary for development of services.
* Demonstrate a range of assessment skills.
* Provide clinical leadership to staff within multidisciplinary teams to assess, develop, deliver, and evaluate effective programs of care.
* Assist the Team Manager in function management and act in their absence.
* Provide effective clinical supervision and mentor individuals and groups.
* Maintain continuing professional development via appraisal and mentorship.
* Participate in and lead junior staff in continuous improvement of services.
* Support others in professional development by delivering appraisal and PDPs.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with Trust policy.
* Use clinical leadership skills to maintain high quality care and treatment environment.
* Organise the work of others to promote responsive, timely service for children, families, and carers.
* Maintain up-to-date understanding of staffing capacity, plan deployment of staff and resources within budgeted levels, and act as authorised signatory for budgets.
* Contribute to staff recruitment processes.
Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
* Post Graduate Supervisor Qualification - CWP or EMHP with significant post-qualifying experience.
* Current Professional Registration (BPS or BABCP); registration will be expected as soon as possible.
* Post Graduate or other approved qualification in supervision of EMHPs/CWPs.
EXPERIENCE
* Extensive post-qualifying/registration experience in mental health care including assessment and risk assessment.
* Use of therapeutic interventions within mental health settings (1:1, counselling, family therapy, group work).
* Experience of assessing, planning, coordinating, and managing CYP with mental health problems in a community setting.
* Experience in supervising EMHPs/CWPs.
* Experience of working in or closely with education settings.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
* Skilled in assessment of clinical risk and developing appropriate risk management plans.
* Skilled in planning and evaluating care for CYP with mental health needs.
* Responsibility for supporting and/or supervising trainee EMHPs/CWPs or other clinical staff.
