Key Responsibilities Lead on technical design, development, testing, delivery, maintenance, and improve our product software with a focus on simplicity and quality. Provide technical direction, support planning and execution, and foster collaboration to ensure successful and high-quality delivery of the Sprint Goal. Lead and provide guidance, feedback, and development opportunities to foster technical growth and build a high-performing engineering team. Oversee the teams project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Partner with Product Managers to understand requirements and contribute domain expertise to engineering and business teams. Collaborate with technical leads to deliver cross team features, and optimise our technical estate. Proactively engage in defect detection, prevention, and resolution, optimizing applications for maintainability, stability, and performance. Drive enhancements in platform health, code quality, technical strategies, and processes. Conduct code reviews to maintain standards and minimize defects. Drive sprint ceremonies for large and intricate features. Ensure adherence to departmental technical strategies and system architectures. Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise Comprehensive grasp of fundamental development principles and established software engineering practices. Highly proficient in C# and the broader .NET technology stack. Proven experience applying Agile methodologies in software delivery. Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing event-driven architectural patterns. Highly adaptable and proactive in acquiring knowledge of emerging technologies and evolving system landscapes. Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL Server and PostgreSQL) and their effective implementation. Well-versed in common web data formats (e.g., JSON, XML) and communication protocols Solid foundation in modern development best practices, including coding standards, design patterns, and security considerations. Proficient in utilizing the Azure DevOps suite (or similar platforms) for collaborative development and delivery. Thorough understanding and practical application of CI/CD pipelines and automation principles. Familiarity with front-end architectural patterns and development concepts. Expert in leveraging version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative code management. Experience implementing and utilizing unit testing frameworks to ensure code quality. Demonstrated ability to guide, mentor, and develop engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment focused on achieving delivery goals. Desirable Skills Knowledge of UI and API automation testing. Experience in financial technology, particularly payments and statements.
