Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs.
Implement and support Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
Use Makaton confidently to support communication and language development.
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning materials and strategies.
Support pupils with ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and other complex needs.
Assist with behaviour management using positive and consistent approaches.
Support pupils' personal, social and emotional development.
Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals where appropriate.
Essential Requirements
Extensive experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant.
Recognised Makaton training (Level 1 or above preferred).
Experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs (e.g., ASD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH).
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
Desirable Skills
Experience working in a specialist or resource provision setting.
Training in Team Teach or other positive behaviour support strategies.
Knowledge of sensory processing needs and strategies
