This role is ideal for engineers with experience in facilities management, building services, or critical environments, who enjoy fault finding, planned maintenance, and maintaining high:performance building systems.
Working within a collaborative shift team, you will play a key role in ensuring operational reliability, system performance, and service excellence across a flagship site.
The Role As a Shift Technician, you will be responsible for delivering both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a wide range of electrical and mechanical (M and E) building services systems.

Key Responsibilities Maintenance and Engineering Operations
: Deliver PPM across all building systems
: Carry out reactive maintenance and fault finding
: Maintain electrical and mechanical plant reliability
: Monitor and operate BMS systems
: Diagnose faults and implement effective repairs
: Ensure work is completed in line with KPIs and SLAs
Compliance and Safety
: Follow all Health and Safety procedures and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
: Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
: Support incident response and emergency procedures
: Promote a strong safety:first culture and risk awareness
Team Collaboration
: Work closely with engineering teams and workplace stakeholders
: Maintain clear and effective shift handovers and communication
: Support training, mentoring, and knowledge sharing
: Deliver a professional, customer:focused service
Continuous Improvement
: Identify opportunities to improve system reliability and performance
: Support initiatives that enhance efficiency, resilience, and sustainability
: Maintain accurate records using CAFM / digital maintenance systems
Skills and Experience Essential
: City and Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
: Experience in facilities maintenance, building services, or similar environments
: Strong understanding of M and E systems (electrical, mechanical, HVAC)
: Experience using BMS or digital monitoring systems
: Proven fault:finding and problem:solving ability
: Ability to work effectively in a shift:based team environment
Desirable
: HV/LV Authorised Person (AP15) (training available)
: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) or mechanical equivalent
: HNC / HND in Engineering
: Confined Space / Pressure Systems AP
: IOSH or Health and Safety qualification
