About the Opportunity
Jacobs are recruiting for a Cost Engineer to Join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK. This is a key role within our Project Management Resource team which is spread across our UK network at all UK sites and stations. You will be part of a large client lead team at EDF’s Torness location and this role will support multiple projects within their UK wide project portfolio.
Since commencing power generation in 1988, Torness has generated over 282TWh of zero carbon electricity. This has been enough to power every home in Scotland for 29 years and the equivalent of taking 47m cars off UK roads for a year in respect of emissions. At a time of nuclear resurgence working for Jacobs at Torness offers a unique opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within an operational environment whilst also looking ahead to future potential opportunities in nuclear new build or decommissioning and deconstruction.
1. Cost Engineers are accountable to the client Project Controls Group Head, PPM and/or Operations Manager and are responsible for providing cost management support to the EDF Nuclear Generation work portfolio and will monitor, control and forecast the costs during the Project lifecycle. This role has no direct reports.
2. The role will be based at the Torness office complex and will require from time to time, business travel to UK sites/stations. Flexible working arrangements between office and home are possible. In this role you will report to the Jacobs Operations Manager, but be accountable for project delivery directly to the client.
3. Good communication and organisational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused tempered with a team-centred approach.
4. Ideally, have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture.
Here's What You'll Need:
5. Minimum of HNC/HND ideally in a cost related discipline or relevant experience and MACostE is desirable.
6. Breadth of experience across whole project and programme lifecycle. e.g. Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning.
7. Good working knowledge of financial systems.
8. Understand the inter-relationship between time cost and commercial aspects of the project life cycle.
9. Working knowledge of latest version of Primavera.
10. Experienced in the use of SAP Finance and Project modules.
11. The ability to reconcile cost information as it applies to the programmes of work.
12. Proficient in the use of estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools.
13. Proficient in the use of Earned Value Analysis.
14. Ability to communicate well at all levels of management, produce monthly reports, to an agreed reporting cycle, to provision of intelligent information.
