Overview
Staffordshire County Council is seeking motivated people to provide outstanding care for adults with learning disabilities. This is a diverse social care role where every day is different, supporting individuals to achieve independence, fulfilment, and choice within Staffordshire communities. The role is based primarily at Douglas Road, a residential respite facility for up to eight adults, with flexible work across Provider Services as required.
Responsibilities
* Deliver excellent person-centred support in an innovative, flexible, responsive, and strengths-based manner.
* Act as a Link Worker for the people we support by contributing to the ongoing assessment, development, delivery, and review of person-centred support plans.
* Administer medication and support with personal care.
* Deliver the manual handling requirements including the use of equipment, physical intervention skills, and active participation in person-centred activities.
The Ideal Candidate
* Be enthusiastic about working with people with learning disabilities and autism.
* Be caring, sensitive and patient while supporting people to be as independent as possible.
* Have ICT skills to complete digital record keeping.
* Have effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Have the ability to manage potential and actual aggression in a sensitive way and remain calm in challenging situations.
* Be willing and physically able to support people with personal and intimate care needs and undertake manual handling tasks.
* Maintain a positive outlook and adapt positively to change.
* If you hold an NVQ level 2 qualification or Care Certificate we would love to hear from you; training and support are available to gain these qualifications.
Requirements and Additional Information
* You will be expected to work flexibly across the week, including weekends and bank holidays. This role is a waking night role, requiring you to remain awake and alert on duty. Rotas may change based on business need.
* Although primarily based at Douglas Road, you may be asked to work flexibly across Provider Services and locations as required.
