Overview
Job title: Positive Behaviour Support Clinical Specialist
Service: Central Services. Responsible to: Consultant Clinical Psychologist / Applied Psychology Lead. Location: Hesley Group services (Thorne, Scunthorpe) with travel to other Hesley Group services as required. This is a full-time role (part-time considered).
Role summary: As a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Clinical Specialist you will take a compassionate approach to working with people, committed to understanding peoples needs and using evidence-based practice to help people to flourish. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and may work in residential, educational or vocational settings. You will support services with PBS knowledge and skills, identify and achieve clients goals, and supervise others implementing PBS interventions.
This role requires working across Hesley Group locations and participation in team meetings as needed.
Main responsibilities
* Conduct descriptive functional behavioural assessments and communicate findings in accessible formats.
* Develop and implement multi-component, holistic behavioural interventions.
* Collaborate with professionals in the multi-disciplinary team and attend meetings and reviews.
* Chair meetings with multiple key stakeholders when required.
* Produce professional reports and contribute to pre-admission assessments and transition planning where appropriate.
* Provide specialist advice, direct coaching and consultation to support staff, families and professionals.
* Manage highly complex information and sensitive situations related to behaviours of concern.
* Communicate information in a skilled and sensitive manner.
* Monitor progress using data collection at individual, service and organisational levels.
* Provide supervision and contribute to service development where applicable.
Training and supervision
* Participate in regular professional supervision and appraisal.
* Maintain active engagement with current PBS developments and relevant legislation for adults with intellectual disabilities and autism.
* Engage in knowledge on restrictive practice reduction and ongoing professional training.
* Provide clinical and line management supervision for staff implementing PBS interventions or PBS training.
* Share practice through relevant forums and conferences, locally and nationally.
Research and service evaluation
* Implement evidence-based practice in individual work and supervise research activities.
* Contribute to service/organisation-wide initiatives and evaluation.
Information technology
* Use information systems to facilitate communication; conduct data entry and analysis (Excel); document in Word; and develop training materials in PowerPoint.
General
* Maintain professional registration with the appropriate governing body, if applicable.

Qualifications and experience
Qualifications (Essential):
* Masters level qualification in ABA/PBS or equivalent.
* Registered as BCBA or UK Behaviour Analyst, UKBA (cert).
* Registered member with UK Society of Behaviour Analysis (UK-SBA).
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Training in clinical supervision.
* Training in management or leadership.
Experience (Essential):
* Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively with key people.
* Advanced skills in collecting and analysing complex data and communicating results.
* Advanced skills in functional behavioural assessment.
* Advanced skills in designing and implementing holistic multi-component interventions.
* Skilled in communicating information to a broad range of people in a sensitive manner.
* Advanced leadership, coaching and mentoring abilities; able to motivate others.
* Ability to identify and contribute to service improvements.
* Experience leading PBS initiatives across services and managing PBS-related projects.
* Ability to develop a lead specialism in a relevant area and conduct research or clinical audits.
* Ability to self-evaluate, reflect in practice and disseminate findings at conferences or forums.
Additional experience:
* Extensive experience in a PBS-informed service and in multi-disciplinary teams.
* Experience delivering PBS training to groups (introductory to intermediate).
* Experience coaching and mentoring staff and service managers; supervision experience.
* Experience leading or supporting service-wide PBS initiatives and strong leadership/management background.
